Last month we launched our “50 Years...50 States...and You” photo contest. Patrons have responded creatively and enthusiastically. It has been a treat for us here at the winery to be on the receiving end of the photos emailed or posted to social media sites. We almost feel like we’ve been on a cross-country trek ourselves! The goal of the photo contest is to have 50 photos, representing something iconic from each state and of course...Hafner wine!

"Meet the Team" is our blog series that introduces each of the Hafner Vineyard team members. We answer a series of questions about ourselves and our time at Hafner Vineyard. José Luis is celebrating his 25th year with Hafner Vineyard! He enjoys being part of the HV Team because his family has roots here. All four of his brothers and three of his cousins have worked here. In his spare time, José Luis is either tending to his numerous fruit trees or out at the local lakes fishing with his family. He's even teaching his grandson to fish!

Back in 1981, the year before we built the winery, Sarah and I had the wonderful opportunity to be interns in Burgundy, France. There we learned new techniques and gained a new perspective that has greatly influenced the winemaking style of Hafner Vineyard. In 1985, we received a request from a young French enology student to work the harvest with us at Hafner Vineyard; thus began our internship program and friendships that now span generations. This year’s “internship” has been an exceptional one. Some would say that we’ve been invaded, but we consider ourselves lucky. Today, we have three (yes, three!) adorable, hard working and very hungry French kids living with us.

To add to the fun of our 50th Anniversary, we launched “50 Years, 50 States & You” photo contest. We invite you to take a photo of Hafner wine and yourself with something iconic from the state where you are. We have received some great photos! People are showcasing their states in many different ways – with gorgeous scenery, delicious cuisine and even typical attire. Each state will have one winner. The winning photos will be the ones that are the most iconic to that state.

To celebrate our 50th Anniversary and summer vacations, we have launched a photo contest: “50 Years...50 States...and You”. We thought this would be a fun opportunity to celebrate our patrons, our anniversary and our country. The goal is to take a photo that includes you and your friends, your state (or one you are visiting) and Hafner wine. The photo should capture something unique and iconic about the state. It could be a building or natural landmark, the state flower, a local cuisine or perhaps even a state personality. Be creative!
