Meet the Team - Eduardo
- August 14, 2024
Name: Eduardo Alejo Naranjo
Number of years at Hafner Vineyard: 1 ½ years
Department/Role: I am part of the vineyard team and do a little bit of everything. I don’t drive the tractors though.
What’s something most people don’t know about you? In Mexico, I used to work in masonry with my family, including my grandparents. I am the third generation to do this work. Our specialty is decorative fences.
Where did you grow up? Palo Alto, Mexico. (Most of us on the vineyard team grew up there.)
Favorite local restaurant: El Milagro in Cloverdale. I especially like the seafood there.
What’s your perfect weekend day look like? I enjoy going fishing and then having a bbq with steak and chicken at Lake Sonoma and Yorty Creek. I like Yorty Creek because there aren’t any motor boats, so it’s quiet. My wife and I also enjoy exploring the area. The Golden Gate Bridge is beautiful.
How else do you spend your free time? I enjoy gardening with my father-in-law in Cloverdale. We like to grow tomatoes and onions especially. I work on cars. I like to take them apart but I’m not as good at putting it back together but I’m learning. My wife and I also enjoy exploring the area.
Favorite Hafner wine (yes, just one!): Rosé
What’s the best part of being part of the Hafner Vineyard team? I like the environment – the people, the attitude. We laugh a lot in the vineyard.
What’s the most exciting time of the year at Hafner Vineyard? Springtime. Suckering, when everything is growing. That’s when the whole cycle is starting, and it’s the excitement of a new growing season.
What’s the best part of living in Sonoma County? The climate and that there are lots of different kinds of places for fishing and exploring like the redwood forests and the ocean. It’s beautiful too. I like the green from the vineyards and that there are many the views of the hills.
Personal motto or saying that you live by: God puts me on the right path that I need to be.
Favorite day of the year: Christmas
What’s a memory of when you started working at Hafner Vineyard? I remember working with José Luis and we were putting the fence together, and we realized that we put a wire reversed. That was one of the first fence jobs so I didn’t know better but I won’t make the mistake again.
What’s the craziest/funniest job you’ve done here? Probably that because we working so fast to switch it before anyone could see. It was one of my first jobs and I didn’t want to mess up.
